We hope our website is helpful in enabling people to understand what is happening at Saint Matthew's. We also hope that it will enable us to make contact with friends old and new both in the local community and beyond.
We aim, under God to be an open and welcoming community seeking to serve God through worship and witness. We are committed to mission and constantly seek new ways of proclaiming the Gospel to thse around us.
We hope that this website gives some flavour of how the parish operates.
Whether you are a regular visitor to our website, or are here for the first time, please take a couple of minutes to look at the About Us, News, Calendar, Service Times, Who's Who and Pictures web pages to discover who we are and some of the things going on at Saint Matthews.
Here you will find details of services, our organisations and forthcoming events.
COVID-19 RISK ASSESSMENT The P C C has considered carefully when to re-open the doors at St Matthew's following the recent lockdown period. We have made numerous changes to arrangements inside the building to ensure that people feel safe and welcome when returning to Church. Our Covid-19 Risk Assessment can be found here. A SAFE AND WELCOMING CHURCH St Matthew’s has offered a warm welcome to everyone since 1865. The P C C is committed to ensuring that everyone at St Matthew’s feels safe and supported. We take the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults very seriously. Therefore if you have any concerns please speak to Fr John Wiseman, Mrs Margaret Barnard, or The Diocesan Safeguarding Officer Abbey Clephane-Wilson.
